Bio on FindaGrave Mastin came to Pike County, Missouri around 1828 and eventually owned a large farm on the Old Frankfort Road, near Arthur's Bend. He owned slaves and raised tobacco. Mastin kept a keg of whiskey at his gate to refresh passersby. This might explain why he was elected County Assessor 1848-1856, Sheriff 1856-1860 and Public Administrator 1860-1872. Mastin and Bersheba were the parents of six children, two died in infancy. The four we know of are, John James Arthur, William B. Arthur, Jane Emeline Arthur and Nancy Arthur

She resided with nephew for 3 months prior to her death, George England. Jane is interred in Arthur Private Cemetery, Frankford Road. Services were officiated by W. L. Taylor, Grassy Creek Church
